ALLIED FORCES IN CRETE

FREYBERG’S ORDER OF THE DAY (Received May 8, 1 a.m.) CANE A (Crete). May 7. Major-General B. C, Freyberg, Com-mander-in-Chief of the Allied Forces in Crete, has issued the following order of the day:— "By the united efforts of the Allied military forces, in addition to the efforts of her civilians, we will not only maintain the integrity of Crete against any invader, but, in time, by God’s grace, advance from this base to restore the freedom and independence of the whole of Greece.”
