STEAMER EXPRESS DELAYED

Wintry conditions contiriued at Lyttelton yesterday, and daybreak revealed a good coating of snow on the hills above Goyernpr’s Bay, with a lighter • fall on Mount Herbert. The steamer express Wahine did not arrive at Lyttelton from Wellington until 8.15 a.m., an hour and a half later than her usual time. The vessel left Wellington in fine weather, but ran into . the southerly gale before she, completed the passage of Cook Strait. Heavy seas were ehcountered and the speed of the vessel had to be reduced.
