EMERGENCY PRECAUTIONS

A work-out of the emergency precautions scheme for the waterfront will be held to-morrow afternoon, between 4 and 5 o’clock. Three blasts on the tug’s whistle will be the signal, and members of the Harbour Board 'Staff, Fire Brigade, and others, will take part. Severe Thunderstarm A severe thunderstorm passed over Lyttelton shortly after 5 p,m. yesterday. There was a heavy fall, of rain and hail, and snow was later seen on the higher parts of the hills about the harbour.
