THE CHIEF SCOUT

MEMORIAL SERVICE IN CATHEDRAL Boy scouts and girl guides, together with brownies and wolf cubs, from the Christchurch district, completely filled the Cathedral yesterday afternoon, when a combined memorial service for the Chief Scout, Lord BadenPowell, was held. The various troops and packs marched in procession to the Cathedral, where their standards and insignia were placed before the choir screen for the duration of the service. The sermon, on' the life and work of the Chief Scout, was preached by Dean Warren. The Rev. E. A. Osmers conducted the prayers, and the lesson was read by the Rev. Alan Watson, of St. Paul's Presbyterian Church. Sentences from the Gospels were read by the Rev. A. N. Scotter, of Durham Street Methodist Church, and the blessing \yas pronounced by the Primate, Arcnbishop West-Watson.
