WEDDING

ROBB—TOD Pink and blue hydrangeas and varicoloured gladioli decorated St. Mary’s Church, Merivale, on Wednesday for the celebration of the wedding of Miss Jean Winifred Tod, younger daughter of the late Mr Herbert Tod and of Mrs Tod, Chapter street, and Aircraftsman James Alexander Robb, eldest son of Mr and Mrs J. A, Robb, Bcaley avenue. The wedding aroused much kindly interest in Christchurch, especially amongst members of Toe H, for the bridegroom is an enthusiastic member of that organisation; the bride and her sister are earnest and energetic members of the League of Women Helpers and are always ready to forward any good work in the city, and the officiating minister was the Rev. Owen Williams, Dominion padre of Toe H. Mr A. Worsley was organist, Mr W. F. Kent-Johnston escorted the bride, and Quartermaster R. L.- King was best man. , ,

The bride wore a beautiful longsleeved frock of ivory satin charmeuse, mad 6 with heart-shaped neckline, draped ‘ bodice, and long train. Her aunt’s bridal veil of tulle was worn with a coronet of orange blossom mounted high in front, and she carried a sheaf of lilium auratum, tied with ivory tulle. She was attended by her sister, Miss Edith Tod, whose frock was of the same material as that of the bride. Kilting of chiffon softened the neckline and the elbow-length sleeves and the panniers oh the skirt were outlined with kilting. She wore a French shaped toque of ivory satin, trimmed with flowers of the kilted chiffon, and she carried a bouquet of shaded pink begonias. After the ceremony, Mrs Tod held a reception at her home in Chapter street. She wore an ensemble of black crepe althea and a smart black parribuntal straw hat upturnd at the side with a flat black ostrich feather mount. Her bouquet was of autumn-tinted flowers. Mrs Robb, the bridegroom’s mother, wore a navy tailored ensemble, relieved with white, a navy and white autumn felt hat, fox fur and shoulder spray of pastel shaded begonias. The bride's travelling ensemble, with long coat, was of navy tucked sheer boucle with touches of pink, and her navy straw pillbox hat. inset with tucked felt, was trimmed with handmade felt flowers on top and finished with a face veil. Mrs J. A. Robb will make her home at Henderson while her husband is stationed at Hobsonville. ENGAGEMENTS The engagement is announced of Mary Cameron, youngest daughter of Mrs Morrison. Gillman, Hereford street, Christchurch, to William Lewis (Clyde), only son of Mr and Mrs J. W. Murphy, Evans Bay, Wellington. The engagement is announced of Peggy, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs H. W. Pascoe, late of Gore, now; resident in Christchurch, and George! Ernest, only son of Mr and. Mrs G. E. Billson, Hnrewood.
