PERMANENT HEALTH CAMP

ESTABLISHMENT AT TEKAPO PROPOSED The chairman of the Timaru Health Camp Committee (Mr R. J. Runciman), at a special meeting, outlined a proposal to establish a permanent health camp at Tekapo under the King George V memorial scheme. It is intended to apply for one of the camps at present under construction for the Tekapo hydro-electric scheme to be handed over to the committee on the completion of the work, and to petition the Government for a grant from the fund set aside for permanant health camps under the memorial scheme.

A committee comprising Messrs Runciman, C. G. Baker, and J. G. Leckie was set up. Offers of support were received from Messrs D. C. Kidd, M.P., T. D. Burnett, M.P., and Clyde Carr, M.P.
