Y.M.C.A. STREET APPEAL
In its annual street appeal, to be held to-morrow, the Christchurch Young Men’s Christian Association is specially seeking funds for the maintenance of local work, which has greatly increased since the outbreak of war. Altogether apart from the association’s activities at Burnham and Wigram, the Young Men’s Christian Association building in Christchurch has become a centre of great activity because of the war. The building is used a great deal by soldiers and airmen, particularly at the week-ends, when meals and sleeping accommodation are provided. Besides the work done by the association in Christchurch, branch activities are carried on at Islington, Sumner, and Rangiora, where boys’ clubs did useful work last winter. Funds are also sought for the boys’ health camp, which opened at Wainui this week.
