TERRITORIAL’S DEATH IN HOSPITAL SPINE BROKEN WHEN DIVINE
Private Robert S. Ferguson. aged 33 years, a territorial Irainin;.; in camp at Burnham, died at the Christchurch Public Hospital on Saturday afternoon. He had suffered a broken .spine when he dived into shallow waiter in a pool near the Waimakariri riser about 4 pan. on Wednesday, lie was formerly brunch manager of the Slate Eire Insurance Ollice al Oamaru.
An inquest was opened yesterday afternoon by Mr E. G. I.evvey, Coroner. Evidence of identification was given by Captain Donald Nelson Ferguson, a brother. The Coroner ordered a post mortem examination, and adjourned the inquest sine die, CAR STRIKES I*Ol.E K. J. Consediue, of 1 (17 Edinburgh street, Spreydon, suffered minor injuries when the motor-ear he was driving struck a pole near the Fit/.• gerald avenue bridge about 4.45 a.in. yesterday. He was admitted lo the Christchurch Public , Hospital. His condition is satisfactory. SHOT IN SHOULDER
Vivian Williams, of 13 Stevens street, was shot through the shoulder when lie was cleaning a .22 calibre rifle about 10.50 on Saturday night. He was admitted to Hie Christchurch Public Hospital, where his condition was reported to be satisfactory.
BUSHMAN KILLED
TAUMARUNUI. December 14. A bushman, John David Jenkins, was killed at Erua yesterday afternoon. He was engaged in tree felling when a limb from a falling tree broke away and struck him on the head, fracturing his skull. He was employed at the, Marlon Sash and Door Company’s mill.
