The Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser), making his first official visit to Blenheim, was accorded a civic reception. He inspected the town schools and attended the break-up ceremony of Marlborough College. He left for Nelson yesterday morning. The Minister for Agriculture (the Hon. W. Lee Martin) is visiting Christchurch. He has

been on a visit to Southland. To-day Mr Lee Martin will represent the Government at the parade of overseas troops trained at Burnham, and 'he will leave in the evening for Wellington.

The Hon. Mr Justice Northcroft will leave Christchurch on Monday for Dunedin where he will attend a sitting of the Full Court with the Chief Justice (the Rt. Hon. Sir Michael Myers) and the Hon. Mr Justice Kennedy. Tributes to the long services given to the

city and to local bodies by the late Mr Norton Francis and the late Mr H. J. Otley were paid last_ evening at the annual meeting of the Christchurch Citizens’ Association. Mr W. H. Joyce, who has been registrar of the Christchurch Technical College for 21 years and who will retire soon, received the best wishes of the staff at the annual prizegiving ceremony la& ni^^^
