MEN TEMPORARILY UNFIT
Treatment at Expense Of Government
(MISS ASSOCIATION TILEGBAM.) WELLINGTON, December 12. During the period of voluntary enlistment for service many men were classified as temporarily unfit for service overseas. To assist these men to gain entrance to the Army the Government some time ago decided to provide remedial treatment at the public expense. The men selected for treatment will be those who, in the opinion of the regional deputy, will pass grade one after treatment in hospital, either as inpatients or outpatients, for a period
not exceeding four weeks. Where temporary unfitness is due to eyesight defects, glasses of Army pattern will be provided when the men enter camp. “In all,” said the Minister for Defence _(the Hon. F. Jones) to-day, “there are 3600 men to be considered for treatment. Quite p large proportion are expected to be available after treatment.”
