DRAMA FESTIVAL
CENTENNIAL OCCASION On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday next, Christchurch is to hold its drama festival as an official part of New Zealand’s centennial celebrations. This festival will decide some of the provincial eliminations in the national centennial one-act play competition, the provincial finals for which will be held in Timaru and the national finals in Wellington some time next month. The festival is to take place at the Radiant Hall, four one-act plays being presented each night. The following groups have entered teams: Canterbury Repertory Theatre Society, Workers’ Educational Associate , Christchurch Training College, Zenith Players, Bankside.Players, Miss Naare Hooper’s group, Old Westonians Dramatic Society, and Hay’s Drama Club. The nightly’s programmes will be advertised shortly. The judge will be Mf J. J. W. Pollard, Mrs R. D. Neale acting as his associate. Dr. J. Hight will open the festival next Thursday at 7.30 p.m. Booking opens at the D.I.C. to-day, all seats being Is 6d, plus booking fee.
