WELLINGTON, June 19.

The weather forecast for Canterbury issued at 5 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of issue, is as follows:

Light to moderate and variable winds. Weather fair to fine, and rather cool. Seas slight.

WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:—

Light to moderate and variable winds. Weather fine, but with cloud increasing in the south. Temperatures moderate. Seas moderate.

DOMINION The Dominion forecast is:—

Weather fair to fine at first generally; some increase in cloudiness, however, and scattered drizzle possibly developing later in the far north and far south. Frosts or morning fogs again likely; but temperatures becoming slightly milder. An intense anti-cyclone remains almost stationary over New Zealand, while pressure is commencing to fall over southeastern Australia.

Winds—Mainly light and variable directions, later tending to easterly to northerly, and force freshening somewhat. Seas (New Zealand waters)— Slight. Eastern Tasman Sea—Moderate northeast to north winds, and moderate seas. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather yesterday was fine and sunny with a light south-west wind. The maximum temperature was 50.7 degrees. At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was overcast and a light southwest wind was blowing. The temperature was 43 degrees. The_ barometer was steady at 30.51 inches (1033.3 millibars).

Wellington—The weather yesterday was overcast, with a light southerly breeze. The maximum temperature was 42.1 degrees. At 6 p.m. the barometer registered 1034 millibars. Dunedin—The sun shone from a cloudless sky yesterday, and temperatures were mild, the maximum being 54 degrees. A very light breeze prevailed from the south-east early in the morning, but it was calm later. The barometer reached the exceptionally high level of 30.60 inches (1036 millibars).
