The weather forecast for Canterbury, issued at 5 p.m, by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: — Light to fresh easterly winds predominating; weather fair and cool; seas slight. / WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast is:— - Light to moderate easterly winds predominating; weather fair to - finjs, with moderate temperatures; seas slight. dominion The forecast for the Dominion is:— Occasional scattered showers are still likely between East Cape and Banks Peninsula and In the far north, but otherwise fair to nne. Temperatures cool, with some frosts to-night in the south. An anti-cyclone extends over New Zealand from eastern Australia, Winds—Mainly light to moderate In force, and rather variable, but with southerly directions predominating about and north of Cook Strait, Seas (New Zealand waters)— Rather rough in the South of the Taranaki Bight and between East Cape and Cape Campbell, but decreasing: elsewhere slight or moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea—Light to moderate and variable winds, but with southerlies prevailing in the northern portion. Seas slight or moderate. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER ■A cold south-westerly wind held throughout Saturday and until last evening, and brought with it a dull sky and occasional showers. On both days, particularly yesterday morning, the sun appeared occasionally. The maximum temperature was 55 degrees. At 1 o'clock this morning the sky was overcast and there was no wind. The temperature was 50 de- . grees, and the barometer, which was rising, showed 30.4 inches (1029 millibars). During the week-end there was 15 points of rain. Wellington—lt was cloudy to overcast on Saturday, and showers began yesterday morning and continued throughout the day. There was a moderate to fresh southerlywind. The maximum temperature on Saturday was 53.4 degrees and the maximum yesterday 54.6 degrees. At 3 pm. the barometer reading was 1023.3 millibars.
