WHIPPET RACING

RECORD CROWD AT NEW GROUNDS The Easter meeting of, the New Zealand Whippet Racing Club, held in conjunction with the official opening of the club’s new grounds at Partman street, Woolston, on Saturday afternoon, attracted a record attendance of more than 2000, and a record of 173 entries for the 37 events. The competitors represented every club in the Dominion and all the champion dogs. The racing was of a high standard. Amongst the visitors were Mr G. N. Kemp, president of the National Whippet Racing Association of New Zealand, Mr Winchester, president of the Dunedin Club, Mr J. R. D. Johns, a former president of the New Zealand Club, Mrs Johns and Mrs G. Biltcliff. Mrs Rlltcllff presented the blue riband to Mr Unwin, winner of the New Zealand Derby, and Mrs Johns presented the other trophies. Messrs J. Staunton and D.
