SPECIAL TRAINING SCHEME
NINE CIVIL SERVANTS SELECTED ' (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGEAM.) WELLINGTON, April 19. The selection of nine Public Service officers for special two-year courses at Victoria University College on Public Service Administration Scholarships was announced on behalf of the Public Service Commissioner as follows: Messrs L. ,'A. Atkinson (Customs Department), K. J, Sco.tt._-(Public Trust) C. A. Macfarlane (Post, and Telegraph Department), T. P. Davin (Railways), K. G. Reid (Railways), T R Smith (Industries and Commerce), K. A. Wills (Industries and Commerce), A. G. Rodda (Land, and Income Tax),, and, M., J Monarty (Customs). __ .■. . The scheme marks the most ad-vanced-step yet taken in the British Empire to train civil servants m specialised courses. , , . The scholarships are tenable, for two years at £ 170 a year. The scholars will be permitted to return to their departments during the long vacation at ordinary rates of pay. At the end of two years, they will sit-a final examination, for the public administration diploma, with provision for honours. - All this year’s candidates are, married men. , .
