CHAMPIONSHIPS OF CANTERBURY INTERESTING RACES TO-DAY
The Canterbury amateur cycling championships,. to be held at English Park this afternoon and evening, have attracted the largest number of entries for some years. All the leading cyclists in the province will be competing. R. M. Kidd, the South Island champion, will be defending his titles, while other well-known Canterbury riders who. will be taking part are J. A. Holton, A. F. Day, A. E. McKaskell, A. C. Porter, and P. L>. Hansen from Walmate. Canterbury has two outstanding juniors in R. H; Knight and W. R. Clough. The meeting of these juniors in the half and five miles junior championships is awaited with considerable interest. In all, eight championships will be decided in matth, scratch, and paced events, as well as a number of handicap races. The programmes commence at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.
