♦- Wool Substitute—The latest wool substitute is announced by Dr. Yoshio Ishida, director of the chemical research bureau of the Riken Laboratories. After the expression of oil from the blubber of Antarctic whales, the fibrous residue can be processed into wool equalling the genuine article in warmth and other qualities.. The quantity, howover, is not estimated.—Tokyo, Dec. 13. South Atlantic Air Service— Regular air services across the South Atlantic from Rome to Rio de Janeiro will be inaugurated on December 22.—Rome, Dec. 13. Slovak Workers for Germany— The Berlin radio stated that Slovakia had agreed to supply Germany with 10,000 industrial and 25,000 agricultural workers next year.— London, Dec. 13. Marriage of Blind Persons—The Leicester City Council ruled that a blind person marrying' another, blind person should not be employed by the Leicester Blind Institute unless he could produce a medical certificate that such marriage would be childless. Councillors who opposed the decision pointed out that the law allowed blinded persons to marry, for which reason it was entirely wrong for the council to bring economic pressure on the blind to submit to sterilisation.—London, Dec. 13.
