At a meeting of the board on Wednesday evening a reply was received ftom the department that the board’s revenue must be devoted to the payment of teachers’ salaries, and that the maintenance of the ground could be provided for out of the incidental grant received by the Akaroa District High School committee. A further .application to the Minister by the High School Board for authority to pay £IOO to the Akaroa centennial celebration funds was refused. It was decided to write to Mr F. J. A. Wright, who has left the district, and inquire whether he wished to retain his seat on the board.
