UNITED PARENTS’ CLUB

KINDERGARTEN GATHERING The United Parents’ Club of the Christchurch Free Kindergarten held an evening social at the Sydenham Kindergarten recently. Mrs Harley Ostlei; (president) welcomed the guests, and items were given by some of the kindergarten mothers’ clubs. The Sydenham Club gave an action song in old-fashioned costume, Philipstown contributed masked drill; Woolston a song, and New Brighton a humorous sketch.

Miss R. Wilkie, principal of the Free Kindergartens, introduced Mrs J. Johnson. Using material gained m a mothers’ discussion group in a community centre abroad, Mrs Johnson outlined many home problems and their solutions. . The secretary gave details of the club’s handwork display to be held at Linwood Kindergarten on NovembeThe Sydenham Mothers’ Club served supper. COMING-OF-AGE PARTY Mrs M. A. Burgess entertained a large number of friends in the Mayfield Band Hall to celebrate the coming-of-age of her second son, Thomas.
