CRICKET
PLUNKET SHIELD MATCHES
CONTINUATION FAVOURED THIS SEASON
That the association favoured continuing Plunket Shield cricket matches this season was the text of a motion released by the Canterbury Cricket Association last evening after 15 minutes discussion in committee. The president (Mr W. L. King) presided. ASSOCIATION’S SHOW DAY PLANS COUNTRY TEAMS TO BE INVITED As part of its plans for Show Day, November 10, the Canterbury Cricket Association decided last evening to invite the North Canterbury Sub-Association to send two teams to take part. Ellesmere and ; Malvern to send one between them, and Ashburton to send one. Arrangements were also made for a colts’ team to play a Christchurch Suburban team at Hagley Park on Show Day, and for a fifth grade representative team, to be selected by Mr A. Harper, to play the Boys’ Association. The president (Mr W. L King) said it should be possible to get more teams assembled if associations took the matter up. It seemed, for instance, that more teams could have been assembled for Labour Day matches. Motions by Mr R. H. North and Mr C, H. Ayling to proceed with the Canterbury Association’s own - arrangements, and to invite teams from North Canterbury (two). Ellesmere-Malvern (one), and Ashburton (one) were carried.
