CANTERBURY TEAM TO MEET SOUTHLAND

Members of the Christchurch Swords Club, Wlgram Air Force Swords Club, and Canterbury University College Swords Club took part in the final selection of the Canterbury team to meet Southland at the Christchurch Swords Club’s rooms to-night In the annual inter-provincial fixture.

The selection resulted in J. G. D. Ward, H. E. Cox, W. S. Elsom, T. H. Farley, C. E. Purchase, all of Christchurch Swords Club, and N. Baty, of the Wlgram Club, being chosen. Flying Officer G. S. Evatt, of the Wlgram Club will be the emergency.

Unfortunately, It was found Impossible for Southland to field a team, of women for the salver. The match will be for the Southland Sports Trust Shield -for men. .This is the oldest interprovincial match in New Zealand, and Is pne of great Interest in the sport.
