DISTRICT VALUER RETIRES
MR E. EGGLESTON HONOURED Many branches of the Public Service in Christchurch were represented at a luncheon given yesterday in honour of Mr E. Eggleston, who has retired from the position of district
valuer of the. Valuation Department, Christchurch. The speakers were Mr H. R. Mottram (State Advances Corporation) , Mr N. C. Kensington- (Commissioner of Crown Lands), Mr A. R. Jordan (District Public Trustee), Mr
F. K. Tucker (Valuation Department), Mr J. Morrison (Stamp Department), Mr J. S. Prentice (Government Life Insurance), Dr. I. W. Weston (Canterbury Agricultural College), and Mr Owen Baker (practising valuers). Reference was made by the speakers to the work done by Mr Eggleston during his many years of service with the Valuation Department, and to the assistance he had given in the formation of the New Zealand Institute of Valuers. It was hoped, they said, that Mr Eggleston would continue his association with the institute, and that his knowledge of valuation matters would be available to its members. In reply Mr Eggleston said it had given him great pleasure to know that his efforts to establish the institute had been appreciated. He would always give of his best in furthering the interests of the profession, he said. Mr Eggleston will be replaced by Messrs M. A. Johnston (Auckland) and W. G. Hadley (Masterton).
