PUBLIC WARNED TO QUIT PARIS
(Received August 28, 3.30 a.m.) PARIS, August 27.
The Government has issued a new, more urgent notice to civilians to leave Paris to-day, in expectancy of a decisive trrr* in the crisis.
The public were warned that transportation might soon be restricted.
Officials express the opinion that peace hangs by a thread.
“WE WILL HAVE NO WAR”
REPORTED OUTCRY IN BERLIN
(Received August 28, 3.35 a.m:) COPENHAGEN, August 27. A Danish woman on arrival from Berlin rejwrted a series of anti-war demonstrations. She saw police draw their batons against crowds shouting “We will have no war.” The Berlin radio station announced that the distribution of food ration cards does not represent an emergency, but is merely precautionary. An official announcement in Berlin said that the Tannenburg celebrations have been cancelled. The German official news agency announced: “By reason of the tense situation, the solemn ceremony arranged at Tannenburg will not take place."

It is officially stated in Warsaw that a German military patrol penetrated into Polish territory for a distance of one kilometre near the village of Penta, a few miles north of Ostrolenka. Encountering a Polish patrol, the Germans used a sub-machine-gun. The Poles returned the fire. The Germans eventually withdrew, leaving their leader, Corporal Rlastenhagen, dead on Polish territory. Four new cases are reported of polish anti-aircraft batteries firing on German war aeropla: js which, it is stated, were flying over Polish territory. . The Berlin radio announces that Polish anti-aircraft guns fired on a German aeroplane flying over Danzig. One of the occupants was the State Secretary (Herr Stuckart). It is not stated whether the aeroplane was struck.
The announcement, was followed by the declaration: “This is intolerable provocation and against all international law.”
“Den* Angriff” claims that 24 minority German Ukrainian reservists were machine-gunned and killed in a provisional military camp at Lodz for refusing to be shifted to Northern Poland. The Polish Ambassador to Berlin has protested against the Germans machine-gunning a Polish border post in the Rybnik district.
NUREMBERG RALLY ABANDONED
(Received August 27, 8.5 p.m.) BERLIN, August 26. It is officially announced that the Nazi Nuremberg Congress has been abandoned. General von Brauchitsch’s broadcast has been cancelled.
