EVENING RECEPTION
FOR GYMNASIUM FUND In October, a garden fete is to be held to raise funds for the building of a gymnasium at “Loreto,” the boys’ preparatory school in Windermere road, Papanui, and already stallholders and interested friends, with commendable foresight, are arranging money-making parties to swell the profits of the fete. One of the pleasantest of these gatherings' was held last night at the home of Mr and Mrs E. JBridgman, Heaton street, where Mrs Bridgman and. Miss Eileen McDavitt were hostesses. - Mrs Bridgman wore a frock:-of midnight.,.blue embroiderectf.at the square n6ckline ; ;witp gold seqdins, and finishedwith a spray of red flowers. Miss McDavitt wore a frock of . brown velvet appliqued with gold floral;sprays on the bodice. _ •. Two amusing one-act plays-were presented by of Miss Naare Hooper’s drama club, those taking part being Miss 1 Ena Clarke, Mrs. Campbell, Miss McDavitt, Miss Dorothy Buckley, Miss Audrey Eadie, Miss M. Keith, Miss Mae Robertson, Miss D. Barnie, Miss Betty Graham and , Miss M. Hawker, and Mr Carl Scott. Amongst the guests were Mr and Mrs. I>. Brinkman, Mr and-Mrs Alton Taylor, Mr and .Mrs Kennedy White, Gem, era! and Mrs M. J. Leriihan, Mr and Mrs G. Leech, Mr and Mrs F. Amodeo, Mr and Mrs Joseph Dolph, Mr and_Mrs C. Kavanagh.
