WEDDING

JAMIESON—HELPS

A very pretty evening wedding was celebrated at St. Peter’s Church, Akaroa, last Saturday evening when Annie Phyllis, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs A. M. Helps, Akaroa, was married to Mr Robert Keith Jamieson, elder son of Mr Ernest Jamieson, of Christchurch. The chuich had been decorated with spring flowers, by Misses Joyce le Lievre and Mary Henning, friends of the bride, and Miss E. Keegan presided at the organ, The marriage ceremony was conducted by Archdeacon A. C. Purchas, of Cashmere. Christchurch, assisted by Archdeacon A. J. Petrie, The bride, who was given away by her father, wore, a parchment ninon wedding gown over satin and she carried a bouquet of freesias. Her embroidered tulle veil was held by circlets of orange blossom. She was accompanied by her sister, Miss Judith Helps, Miss Mabel Speak (Christchurch), cousin, and Molly Jamieson, sister of the bridegroom, as bridesmaids. The bridesmaids were gowned in light blue georgette over taffeta and they carried bouquets of mixed flowers in pastel shades with flowers in their hair. The bridegroom was accompanied by Messrs Reginald Cook and James Tweedie, of Christchurch and Frank Helps, brother of the bride (Akaroa). Messrs Douglas Helps and Douglas Jamieson were ushers at the church. The bride's* mother, Mrs A. M. Helps, wore a teal blue gown with flowers at the neckline and hat to tone. Mrs S. H. Jones, aunt of the bridegroom, wore a violet velvet gown with spray of flowers at the neckline. The bride’s travelling dress was a light navy blue suit with hat to match. Reception at Bride’s Home Mr and Mrs Helps received a large number of guests at their beautiful home “Mount Pleasant,” after the wedding ceremony. A most enjoyable gathering was held of relatives and friends, who congratulated the bride and groom. Archdeacon" A. C. Purchas, in a very happy speech, wished the happy couple the best of luck on behalf of their assembled friends. The acknowledged the many expressions of goodwill he and his wife had received and thanked Archdeacon Purchas for his kind remarks. The toast was received enthusiastically with musical honours. A delightful buffet supper was served for the many guests present and the happy couple departed on the wedding tour with the best wishes of the whole company assembled.
