NEWFOUNDLAND
TO THE EDITOB OT THE PRESS. Sir, —A small news item in “The Press" to-day is unfortunately without any heavy type heading, and may quite easily be missed by many of your readers. I refer- to the information that in Newfoundland, about one person in three is receiving relief, nearly £33,000 a month being necessary for this measure.
Although I am no financial expert, it seems to me that Britain cannot be proud of her action in further enslaving this province by “putting the bailiff in.”—Yours, etc., D. ROBERTSON. Oaro, August 21, 1939.
