BOY SCOUT STREET APPEAL
♦ £94 COLLECTED YESTERDAY Notllwithstanding the cold and the heavy intermittent rain, more than 100 collectors for the — annual street appeal of the Boy Scouts’ Association took up strategic positions in the city and suburbs. The total result of the day’s effort was £94. Continuation of the wet weather, of course, meant that there were few people about, and those who were no doubt were in a hurry to complete their business. It was a day to keep the home fires burning, and even the warmth of offices and shops was welcome. Only £77 came into the boxes of the street collectors, cheques from well-wishers added another £6, and a stall in Victoria square managed by women of the Papanui group brought another £ll.
