SOCIAL AND PERSONAL

Mr and Mrs W. Fussejl (Wellington! and Mr and Mrs F. Fussell (Napier) will be the guests of Miss Fussei; (Russell square) lor Christmas.

Mrs Huddleston and Miss Revell ("Cadogan Flats," Sefton street) left for Chr_istchurch yesterday. Miss K. Stewart, who was visiting her niece, Mrs S. K. Withell (Otipua), has returned to Dunedin.

Mrs James Grant, who was the guest of Mrs A. Grant (Wai-iti road), has returned to Gray's Hills. Miss Pauline Turnbull (Christchurch) is staying with her sister, Mrs Gould Hunter-Weston, Elizabeth street.

Mrs Whitefleld (Schoolhouse, Otipua) has left for Otago Central. Miss C. Whitefleld will leave shortly for a motor tour of the North Island. Mrs A. E. Manison and Mr B. Manison arrived from Dunedin yesterday to stay with Mrs R. Stewart, Otipua.

GENEROUS RESPONSE

SANATORIUM PICTURE PLANT

The lady editor of "The Press" gratefully acknowledges further donations towards her appeal, made in "The Press" on Monday, for money to buy a moving picture plant for patients of the Cashmere Sanatorium. Yesterday, she received the following donations:—Mr J. E. Christie (Southbridge), 2s 6d; Mrs M. M. Allan (Rugby street), £1: Founder of S.S.S. (Geraldine), ss; "Grateful," £1; Mrs H. Dampier-Crossley (Rotherham), £1 Is; Mr E. A. Adams, £2 2s; Great War Funds Administrative Committee, £5. These sums, together with the generous donations received from "LP.," Mr and Mrs J. T. Sutton, and Miss Elsie Macfarlanei which were acknowledged yesterday, bring "The Press", fund to £2l 5s 6d. A very generous offer of help has also been received from Mr' George Cridge, Heaton street.

The patients have themselves raised £7O, and they have been advised that a suitable plant will cost nearly £l3O. With the help of kindly disposed readers of "The Press" they may yet be able to have their plant installed before the autumn.

Mr and Mrs E. H. Clark (Fendalton) will leave on Friday for Dunedin to attsnd the wedding of Mr Clark's niece to Mr J. Dodgshun. Thev will visit Central Otago before returning to Christchurch.
