Miss Hilda Williams ("Westmore," Gloucester street west) left for the north last night to spend Christmas with Mrs Colin Deans', Masterton.
Mr and Mrs Fountain and Miss Kathleen Fountain (Dunedin) will arrive in Christchurch this week to spend Christmas with Mrs Fountain's brother and sister-in-law, Mr and Mrs A. Vere Winchester, Cashmere Hills.
Mrs F. A. Nixon, who recently returned to New Zealand from England, is staying at Warwick House. In the middle of January she will go to live with her youngest son at Oxford, North Canterbury.
Mr and Mrs R. W. Morrow and family (Fendalton) will spend the holidays at their cottage at Leithfteld beach.. Mr and Mrs A. J. Dunn (Christ's College) will spend the holidays at Khandallah.
Mrs Fergus Paterson and Miss Jura Paterson (Norman's road) will [ spend Christmas at Hanmer Springs. Mr and Mrs Derry Hobbs (now of Hill street, Wellington) will leave to-morrow for Sydney by the Wanganella for a month's visit. Mr Hpbbs will attend the science conference in Canberra, beginning on January 11. They will also visit Mrs J. H. Liddle, formerly Miss Betty Hobbs, of Papanui road, Christchurch. Mr and Mrs Vern Wilson (Fendalton) will leave on Boxing Day for a holiday visit to the West Coast glaciers.
Miss Kathleen Cracroft Wilson
(Banks Peninsula), who has been visiting Miss Harley, Dublin street, will return home to-day. Miss Nancy Hitchcock will leave Christchurch early in the New Year for Oamaru to take up a position for two terms at the Waitaki Girls' High School. Miss N. Buckley, who has been typist at the Christchurch Magistrate's Court for four years, was presented with a gift of cutlery yesterday morning by the Bench and the staff of the Court in honour of her approaching marriage. The presentation was made by Mr H. A. Young, S.M., and other speakers were the Clerk of the Court (Mr W. S. Jones) and the Maintenance Officer (Mr P. J. Jones). Mrs Kenneth Gresson (Fendalton), who has been visiting the North Island, has returned home. She and her family will spend the holidays at their house at Wainui. Mrs J. Hammond (Mangatoki) is the guest of her sister, Mrs W. B. Clarkson, Peterborough street ■west, for the marriage of Miss Katherine Clarkson to-day. Mrs W. Webb (Fendalton) hasxeturned from a visit to her daughter:, Mrs F. G. M. Raymond, Timaru.
Mr and Mrs H. McC. Studholme (Gloucester street west) will leave to-morrow to spend a holiday at the Bay of Islands. Mrs Townsend and Miss Townsend have returned to Mount Pleasant, after spending several weeks in Christchurch. Dr. and Mrs H. E. W. Roberton (Bealey avenue) will leave on Boxing; Day to spend a fortnight camping in the Nelson district.
Mr and Mrs Trevor Clarkson (Pleasant Point) are the guests of Mrs C. G. Curtis, Rossall street, for the Bedford-Clarkson wedding today. They will return home tomorrow, accompanied by Mr and Mrs Curtis, who will be their guests for. Christmas. Mr and Mrs T. A. Machin (Avonside) will spend the holidays at Stewart Island.
" Mr and Mrs T. Hoskin (Auckland) are spending the Christmas holidays with Mr C. W. Eyles, Fitzgerald avenue, Christchurch.
Mrs Henry F. Fox (Wellington), who is visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs F. Potter, Heaton street, will leave for the north to-night. Misses E: and 'G. Pavitt (New Plymouth) are staying with Mrs A. White-Parsons, Lyttelton. Miss Adele Seay (Auckland) is visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs W. N Seay, Merivale. Miss Maureen Ramsay (Kaiapoi) is spending the Christmas holidays with Mrs J. Stewart, "Crossmount," Richmond, Nelson. Mrs Maurice Osborne and family (Knowles street) will spend the holidays at their house at Leithfield beach.
Miss Ada Inman, who has been visiting in North Canterbury, has returned to Cattle Valley. Miss Patricia Saunders is visiting Miss June Orbell (Park lane, Timaru) and Mrs J. O. H. Tripp, Glen Gary Station.
Miss Wyn White-Parsons (Lyttelton) will leave to-day to connect with the Wanganella for a holiday visit to Sydney. Miss Eileen Kevin (Sydney) is the guest of Mrs J. G. Hicks, Mathias street.
Miss E. D. Fitz Way (School of Art) will leave by the Wanganella to-morrow on a holiday trip to Australia.
Dr. and Mrs Malcolm Gray (Knowles street), who have been visiting Sydney, will return to Christchurch this morning. Mr and Mrs H. Kitson and family (Fendalton) will spend the holidays motoring in the Nelson district.
