FLYING SHINGLE

TO THE EDITOB OT THE PRESS. Sir, —During the coming holidays I plan to visit the Southern Lakes. "Now, the only part ot the journey that is causing me any concern is the road between Hinds and Rangitata bridge. This particular part of road is a nightmare to all motorists, but it is terrible to be driving over this stretch of road and be passed by other cars travelling at 50 or 60 miles an hour, and have a shower of shingle shot up into your windscreen. This is a common occurrence when on this road. I should like to suggest that the Transport Department's , traffic officers keep a sharp lookout for road hogs on this road over the Christmas and New Year.—Yours, etc., LIGHT CAR. December 20, 1938.
