ROAD TO GOVERNOR'S BAY
TO TUB EDITOR OF THE PRESS. Sir,—Last Saturday I used the re-cently-improved road from the "Sign of the Kiwi" to Governor's Bay. This part-of the road had been ;tar-sealed a few months ago and apparently the work has not been completed before the advent of the warm weather. On descending at lowest possible speed, tar and gravel flew up at a tremendous rate; the roar of the gravel hitting the mudguards was deafening, and a major portion of what once covered the road was firmly deposited on all surfaces of my car. I have spent hours every night trying to remove the worst of it, and I suppose I shall succeed by I the end of the week, in time for a new supply on Saturday. Or will other motorists pick up the lot meanwhile? There should still be enough left by now to provide evening entertainment all round.—Yours, etc., POT-HOLK. October 5, 1938.
