As a result of the conference held at Christchurch lost Wednesday, when licensed goods service operators m the area between the Waipara apd ' tata rivers unanimously agreed upon a schedule of uniform freight charges it is hoped to extend the scope of the agreement further afield. The No. 3 Licensing Authority (Mr th Langford) told '“The Press” yesterday that the goods transport operators intended to work on the schedule in discussion w*n the carriers censed on Timaru. Kaikoura, and m the Waipara and Amun Counties. ford hoped that as a result of this conference, which would be held in _ few weeks, uniform freight charges would obtain over the whole Of Can terbury. Each association, he said, as well as the consumers of transport, could voice their own views at the oublic sittings, and were in no way bound by thl preliminary discussions. The prospects of a wider agreement being reached, he added, were (1W bright, as. on. last Friday at a conference of carriers held m Timaru, a resolution to the effect that the association supported the proposal to introduce a price schedule to cover the whole of the South Island had been carried without dissent.
