AMATEUR TOURNAMENT AT RAKAIA TEAM FROM SOUTHLAND COMPETES The Rakaia Boxing Association held a amateur tournament on Monday night when a team from Southland took part. The long programme contained several well-matched and Interesting bouts. The main fight was between D. McGirr and J O'Connor, both of Christchurch. It was willing right from the start, with McGirr on the attack all the time, although at the cost of much punishment. O’Cor ior required all his rlngcraft and knowledge to keep him out of trouble. Connolly (Ashburton, Bst) beat W. Gamble (Christchurch, 8st); Ronald Franks (Ashburton, Bst 21b) beat C. Sharp (Christchurch, Bst 31b). „ . Feather-weight—-W. Brown (Southland, Bst 81b) beat R.
