SUMNER VOLUNTEER FIRE BRIGADE

PRESENTATION OF AWARDS

The members of the Sumner Volunteer Fire Brigade qualifying for brigade honours, were recently preserved with the awards by the Mayor (Mr J. E. Tait). • . Mr Tait congratulated the brigade on the high esteem in which it was held by the residents of the borough. They were doing excellent work, he said and were fully maintaining the high standard they always strived for. The awards were:—Deputy-Super-intendent J. Merritt, gold bar, 37 years’ service;' Branchman T. Smith, silver bar. 13 years’ service: Branchman J. Reid, silver bar. seven years’ service: Kydrantman J. Merritt, silver bar, 13 years’ service; Branchman A. J. Oswell, certificate, three years’ service; Fireman W. Noonan, silver bar, seven years service.
