BUSINESS PREMISES ENTERED
CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE AT TIMARU Considerable damage was done to four business premises in Timaru during the week-end, probably by youths. The premises entered were the Canterbury Farmers' Co-operative Association, Ltd.’'- wool store, Mr Gordon Gibb’s furniture factory in Sophia street John Edmonds, Ltd.’s rear store in Sophia street, and the Railway Department’s goods sh.d. The premises were apparently entered between noon on Saturday and 8 a.m. yesterday. Apparently nothing was stolen, but wanton damage was done. Sheepskins were slashed with'a knife in the wool store, and in Gibb’s factory the office was ransacked and a rubber stamp was used to mark envelopes, besides which a window and three skylights were broken. The storeroom at John Edmonds s premises was entered through a window at the rear, and at the railway goods shed the skylight was smashed.

Dobier (Cambridge); forwards, Jr Davie (South End), S. Hughes (Cambridge), W. Weaver (Geraldin;), C. Mayston (Geraldine), A. Boyd (Cambridge). Reserves: Backs, A. Tismah (South End); forwards, M. Newman (South End). The referees will be Professor Jagan Nath, manager of the Indian team, and Mr L. C. Davies (Timaru).
OFFENDING PLAYER SUSPENDED
SOUTH CANTERBURY RUGBY \ UNION MEETS “What would a player need to do to be suspended for a season?’’ asked Mr A, D. Jackson at the meeting of the management committee of the South , Canterbury Rugby Union last evening, when it was proposed that an offending player be suspended fpr two Saturdays. The player was A. Hurst, who was erdered off for striking an Old Boys player in the junior match against Tareora. Hurst, who appeared before the committee, admitted the offence but said that bis jersey was pulled by the player he had struck. It was decided to suspend Hurst for ? three playing Saturdays. An amendment that suspension be for two playing Saturdays, was lost. Mr J. H. Harley presided, Mr N. Parata, selector of the Maori team to travel to Fiji, advised that O’Connor and Tumaru had been chosen to play in the Maori trial game 8t Oamaru on July 9, and that Heath and H. Davis had been selected as emergencies. It was decided to keep in mind the possibility of sending T. C. Morrison and C. K. Saxton, members of the All Black team, from Wellington, on their arrival back from the Australian tour, to Dunedin direct, by aeroplane, to enable them to join the South Canterbury representatives who will leave that afternoon for Invercargill to play for *he Ranfurly Shield against Southla* ,i

Saxton, JJ'ho will play for the All Blacks on the forthcoming Australian tour, were entertained at Timaru on Saturday •light at a dinner given by the Old Boys’ Football Club, of which Saxton a member. Mr S. D. Mason, who Presided, congratulated the players on their selection, and wished them success. A presentation of a wallet was made to Sgxton by Mr Mason from the club, and Morrison was presented with a suver cigarette cabinet by Mr A W "his, club captain.
