WORK FOR MANY MEN

PROVISION IN SOUTH CANTERBURY VISIT OF MINISTER FOR LABOUR Through arrangements made by the Minister for Labour (the Hon. H. T Armstrong) during his visit to Timaru at the week-end work will be found for an indefinite period for 100 unemployed married men. When plans are completed, the Timaru Borough Council, which has already more than 100 unemployed at work will have more than 200 engaged. Forty men will be put to work tomorrow in West End Park, and work will be found for an additional 40 S * l Work will also be provided by the Timaru Cemetery Board. the South Canterbury Caledonian Society, the secondary and primary schools, the Department of Lands, the Railway Department. and the Public Works Department. When all the married men are absorbed plans will be put into operation to employ single men at presenl out of work. Provision has already been made to employ 20 single men.
