MAORI LAND CLAIMED AT ORAKET
* royal commission adjourns FOR A WEEK (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) AUCKLAND, July 4. The Royal Commission to consider grievances by the Maoi'is concerning land transactions with the Crown at Orakei. began its sitting this morning, but adjourned almost immediately Until Monday next. Mr Justice Kennedy is chairman. Mr J. J. Sullivan represents the Maoris. Mr V. R. Meredith appears for the Crown, and Mr K. Forrest for the General Trust Board of the Anglican Diocese, which is interested in church property. } During the week Mr Justice Kennedy will inspect the areas of land involved. It was explained this morning that the delay until next week was due t6 a Supreme Court action which has a bearing on the proceedings, and also to enable counsel for the Maoris to consider the mass of documents relating to the Maori claims.
