WOMEN’S HAIRDRESSERS’ DISPUTE Hours of work and wages were settled at the hearing in Conciliation 1 Council yesterday of the North Can-

tefbury women’s hairdressers’ dispute. The dispute, in which the employers were the applicants, had been first heard in the council on January 11. Mr S. Ritchie, Conciliation Commissioner, presided. The employers’ assessors Were Mr J. Olds, Mrs G. Harrison, Messrs D. H. Beattie, and D. I. Macdonald. The employees’ assessors were Messrs H. Hopkirk, G. H. Parkin, and J. S. Barnett. It was agreed that there should be a 44-hour week, worked on five and a half days. The rates of wages to be as follows:—Apprentices, 15s a
