YOUNG FARMERS CLUBS
OFFICERS ELECTED BY COUNCIL SOUTH ISLAND STOCK-JUDGING CONTEST SUGGESTED The first meeting of the Northern South Island Council of the New Zealand Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs was'held in the Provincial Council Buildings yesterday, Mr A. Grant presiding. Delegates were present from all parts of Canterbury. Officers were elected as follows: — Chairman, Mr A. Grant; vice-chair-man, Mr J. W. Calder; secretary and treasurer, Mr C. C. Leitch. Messrs A. Grant, H. G. Stephens, and D. F. Coleman were elected delegates to the Dominion Council. It was decided to hold a short course at Canterbury Agricultural College (Lincoln) early "in August, this course to be open to members throughout the South Island.
Following the successful trial with the book hamper scheme, it was decided to apply to the director of the Library Service for hampers sufficient for all District Committees. A sub-committee was set up to submit proposals for a South Island interclub stock judging championship.
