INVESTIGATION OF TUBERCULOSIS
PERSONNEL OF COMMITTEE ANNOUNCED IFrom Our Parliamentary Reporter.! WELLINGTON, July 4. The personnel of a committee appointed by the Government to investigate tuberculosis in New Zealand on behalf of the recently-ap-pointed Medical Research Council was announced this evening by the Director-General of Health, and chairman of the council, Dr. M. H. Watt. The members of the committee are as follows: —Dr. T. W. Johnson,, of Auckland, chairman, Dr. W. Gilmour, pathologist at the Auckland Hospital, Dr. Chisholm McDowall, tuberculosis office of the Auckland Hospital Board, Dr. T. R. Ritchie, of the Health Department, Wellington, and Dr. H. B. Turbott, of the Health Department, Hamilton. The committee will make a statistical survey of the incidence of tuberculosis in New Zealand. It will also investigate the problem of tuberculosis among Maoris, silicosis as a factor in tuberculosis, and in association with the Department of 'Agriculture, the prevention of tuberculosis of the bovine type in human being^.
