STATE FINANCES IN AUSTRALIA
QUEENSLAND HAS DEFICIT
OF £255,000
SYDNEY, July 1,
Treasury officials have advised the Premier (Mr B. S. B. Stevens) that the State accounts for the financial year, which ended last night, show a surplus of £60,000. The Minister for Health (Mr H. p. FitzSimons) announced that the State lottery had shown a record net'profit of £845,000 for the financial year. A surplus of £ 142,000, the fourth in successive years in South Australia, was disclosed in the statement received by the Premier (Mr R. L. Butler). The Victorian Budget surplus at th* end of the financial year X/alled £II,OOO. l Queensland ended the year with I deficit of £255.000. The Western Australian deficit amounted to £IOO,OOO.
