SITE OF CAPITAL OF NEW GUINEA
AUSTRALIAN CABINET DECIDES ON SALAMAUA CANBERRA, June 23. The Federal Cabinet has decided that Salamaua will be the future administrative capital of New Guinea in place of RabauL The Minister for External Affair* (Mr W. M. Hughes) announced that a road would immediately be constructed from Salamaua to wau, which was the centre of a rich gold mining area. The cost of setting up .the new capital, including harbour works, would be about £350,000..
