MR E. S. BOWIE APPOINTED TO CHAIRMANSHIP Mr E. S. Bowie, of Christchurch, will succeed Mr J. R. Cuningham as chairman of the North Canterbury Rural MimmmA Qmmimm & Xbis
was announced yesterday and Mr Bowie took the oath in the Supreme Court yesterday morning. He will start duty on Monday. Mr Cuningham was forced to retire after several years on the commissionbecause of ill-health. Mr Bowie is only 31 years of age, and probably the youngest commissioner in New Zealand. He was educated at Christ’s College and Canterbury College, graduating LL.B. in 1928. Pour years later he took his B.Com. degree. For some years he has been practising here as a barrister and solicitor. He is a member of the council of the Canterbury Law Society; and a xnemtac fflt tto* com-
mittee of the Canterbury branch of the New Zealand Society of Accountants.
