YOUNG FARMERS
SPREAD OF MOVEMENT PROGRESS IN SOUTH CANTERBURY An increase of clubs from four to nine during the year was reported to the annual conference of the South Canterbury Young Farmers’ dub movement, which was held in Timaru, with Mr Allan Grant (Waimate) presiding. The report stated that the membership now stood at 282. During the year cups and shields had been obtained for various competitions, and good patronage had been accorded the competitions held on different occasions at the Waimate, Timaru, and Fairlie agricultural and pastoral shows. . , The election of officers resulted as follows: —Chairman. Mr Allan Grant; vice-chairman, Mr A. Bishop; treasurer, Mr A. B. Struthers; committee. Messrs J. Gregan, J. Barclay. M. Toohey, E. McConnell. R. Lindsay. G. H. Worner, A. Paul. A- Jackson, and T. Dale: advisory members, Messrs G. Barclay and A, Ward; representative of Farmers’ Union, Mr A. Robinson; Agricultural and Pastoral Association. Mr C. H. S. Johnston; additional members, Messrs R. Kingston, D. Wright. W. Thomas, and L Ross; delegates to the Canterbury council. Messrs Allan Grant, J. Barclay, and E. McConnell.
