FUNERAL

MR S. F. WILSON

Many city businessmen and members of sports clubs and their administrative bodies attended the funeral of Mr Samuel Frederick Wilson, well known as a Rugby football administrator, \vhich left his home in Rotherham street, Riccarton, for the Bromley Cemetery on Saturday afternoon. There were more than 150 cars in the procession.

Among those present were representatives o| the New Zealand Rugby Union; the Canterbury Rugby Union, Rugby sub-unions, Canterbury Rugby Referees’ Association, city Rugby clubs, Lancaster Park Board of Control, New Zealand Cricket Council and Canterbury Cricket Association, Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association, the New Zealand Swimming Council, the Commercial Travellers* and Warehousemen’s Association, members of Canterbury Masonic Lodge 1048 E.C., and 9* St. James’ Church, Lower Riccarton, The chief mourners were Mrs S. *. Wilson, Mrs J. Moffat (daughter). Miss P. Wilson (sister), and Mrs A. J. P The 1 Rev. S. J. Cooper, vicar of St. James’, Lower Riccarton, conducted services at the house and at the graveside, and the Masonic service was read at the graveside by Canon G. N. Watson. T The pall-bearers were Messrs L. J. Pickering (nephew), A. Dey, J, K. Moloney (president of the Canterbury Rugby Union), A. E. McPhail (New Zealand Rugby Union), H. T. Fuller (Albion Rugby Football Club), and Dr. W. S. Seed (immediate past president of the Canterbury Rugby Union).
