CONSTITUTION TO BE DRAWN UP
CANTERBURY LIFE-SAVING ASSOCIATION
A sub-committee was set up at a meeting of the Canterbury Surf LifeSaving Association last evening to draw up a new constitution. The chairman (Mr H. S. Feast) said that: the association had been working on “half a constitution,’’ and there had been times when he had been at a loss to .know what position to take up on various matters. It should not be much trouble to prepare a constitution, as the New Zealand Association had an excellent constitution. The sub-committee consisted of Messrs Feast, V. G. Spiller, D. V. Wilson, and G. Griffiths. “This is quite the best report we have had for many years,” said the chairman, when the report of the equipment of the various clubs was received. He said that it showed that the clubs* had been paying attention to the need for keeping their equipment in order. * ■ It; was decided to approach local bodies with requests for grants, either to the association or to the clubs. The Christchurch City Council, it was stated, contributed £IOO, but many local bodies made no contribution.
