A total income of £31,996 Os 9d, against £30,910 Os 7d for the previous year, was shown in the balance-sheet presented to the monthly meeting of the Sprlngs-Ellesmere Power Board, over which Mr A. E. Langdale-Hunt presided. Although there was a profit of £B7 13s 0d in the trading account the board had a loss 0T£172 4s lOd for the year. This will be made good from accumulated profits. Commenting on the statement, Mr H. Neave, chairman of the finance committee, said that the cost of current had been £14,045 18s 9d, against £11,902 9s 9d for the previous year. The increase had occurred chiefly over the ’ last two periods of the financial year. The difference in the amount budgeted for and the actual expenditure was represented by items which could not have been foreseen. The chairman said that legislative action and the Increases in award rates of wages were factors which could not be guarded against in the estimates. Speaking of the manufacture of con; Crete poles, the engineer said that everything was in readiness for ordering the steel required for reinforcing the poles. He estimated that 38 tons of steel would be needed in addition to 20 tons of wire. It was decided to order supplies of steeL
