TO TAKE CHARGE AT WIGRAM
EXCHANGE OFFICER ARRIVES SQUADRON LEADER OLSON MAY GO TO HOBSONVILLE % On exchange from the Royal Air Force, Squadron Leader G. S. Hodson has arrived from England to take charge of the Royal New Zealand Air Force station at Wigram. He will succeed Squadron Leader G. Olson, who, it is understood, will shortly take charge of the station at Hobsonville. Squadron Leader Olson has been temporarily in charge at Wigram since the departure for England of Wing Commander 3. L. Findlay. No official announcement can yet be made about Squadron Leader Olson’s departure, but it is understood that he will be sent to Hobsonville to take charge there because of the injury received recently by Flight Lieutenant A. G. Lester, at present officer in charge. Flight Lieutenant Lester was so seriously injured in an accident during a trial flight at Hobsonville that it is likely that he will be absent from duty for some time. Squadron Leader Hodson, who arrived with his family from Wellington yesterday morning, has had a distinguished career as a flying instructor in England. He was formerly chief flying instructor of the English military training school at Wittering, Leicestershire. He was acr companied as far as Wellington by Squadron Leader L. G. Davison, another Royal Air Force officer sent out to New Zealand on exchange. Squadron Leader Davison remain at headquarters at Weltingfrna as Chief Equipment Offices* .'
