ESTABLISHMENT URGED IN NELSON SUITABILITY OF DISTRICT FOR PROPOSAL truss U9OCU.TIOX TBLIOBAK.) NELSON, April 7. A motion supporting the establish ment at Onekaka of smelting works in connexion with the developmen of the iron ore deposits in Goldei Bay, was unanimously carried at ! meeting of representatives of ever; local body in the Nelson district. Th Mayor of Nelson (Mr G. L. Page) pre Mr Page pointed out there was som talk of the smelting works beim shifted from Onekaka. He had beei told by the Minister for Industries an< Commerce that the works should b at Onekaka. However, the speake said he was afraid that some effort might be made by other centres t *et the works established away iron Onekaka. Golden Bay contaxnei limestone, manganese, and coal, al jf which were necessary for the pro Suction of steel. The immediah vicinity of Onekaka provided a suit able place for the establishment of i large community, with a fine wate: supply, and electricity for power ant iomestic use. These remarks were strongly sup ported by other speakers-
