FOOT-AND MOUTH DISEASE
MUCH STOCK AFFECTED IN BRITAIN (Received April 6, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON. April 5. Press reports estimate that nearly 25,000,000 cattle, sheep, and pigs are affected by the standstill order after the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in Britain. A new State veterinary service has come into operation to help in efforts to stamp out the plague.
